Youtube Blocked in Sudan

Youtube was blocked by the Sudanese National Telecommunication Corporation, which is known for blocking porn websites, and controversial religous websites, hacking websites, etc .. but Youtube? why would they block it? Youtube is known for it's "report abuse" system, no unapropriate materials find its way to it, even the videos with sexual/violent content are not allowed for -18 users, so why would the Sudanese government block it?(yes, I believe the government is after this and it's not a conspiracy) what else other than it's freedom of speech services? I know what this fascist regime hates the most? no, not technology, they fear those who are able to use this technology. I was intending to upload a video I'm supposed to get soon from a friend who got it from a relative working for the military, the video shows extreme tourture commited on those who were prisoned at the 10th of May events, did someone upload it before I do? It's been moving from phone to phone by bluetooth for a while, even though I didn't see it till now but people are talking. The governemnt managed to prevent local newspapers from mentioning Kajbar Dam atrocities before and arrested many activists.
what's next? Will they block blogs? facebook? myspace?

I have to agree with you that the Sudanese government is trying its best to control what the international community know and see of what is happening in Darfur, im sorry i can not identify my self, im a Sudanese and i live in Sudan i was surprised this morning when i found the YouTube site blocked, this is another violation by the Sudanese government in regards to freedom of speech, not to mention that all the newspapers here have to go throw a check by national intelligence, what kind of democracy is this, i know the Sudanese way...

I'm not surprised.

Not because Sudan doesn't want to give its citizens any freedom of expression, but because of the videos I've seen on YouTube recently that are directly related to Sudan.

Those videos I saw were shocking. Extremely shocking. I know people who got heart attacks when they saw these videos, and felt sorry for what's happening in Sudan. No, they got nothing to do with Darfur. They got nothing to do with South Sudan. They got nothing to do with the government. Though, they got everything to do with Sudanese females, sadly.

The videos of Sudanese females I saw contained sexual contents. Some of them I think were uploaded to YouTube without the girls in the videos knowing about them, because it was obvious that some guys were shooting the videos and the females weren't aware of them. Though, some other videos, which are the extreme shock, were uploaded by the girls in the videos themselves I think. Because the girls in them were shooting the videos of them themselves, so apparently they were uploaded by them.

I can't describe these videos. They're just too degrading. Everyone who sees these videos will feel really sorry for Sudan and wonder where will the Sudanese people reach to.

When I saw these videos two months ago in the US, I asked a friend whom was in Sudan recently if YouTube was blocked in Sudan. From these videos, I was expecting it to be already blocked. He told me that it wasn't, and none of the videos in YouTube are blocked in Sudan. But here we go, you're brining us the news of the Sudanese authorities blocking YouTube, which isn't a shock to me at all. In fact, I think such action would have been made a long time ago.

I'm not really with this action though. Nor am I against it. I think the authorities should have blocked only these videos that are inappropriate. But apparently the authorities are not bothered to assign someone to keep checking YouTube everyday and discover all the inappropriate videos and block them individually, so they just thought to block the whole thing altogether without getting a headache.

Unfortunately, with the videos I'm talking about, YouTube just turned into another pornographic website, but of Sudanese females this time, sadly, which I think is one of the reasons why YouTube now is blocked in Sudan, regardless of this reason being a major or minor one.

You bore me. There needs to be a grand authority to control what people see because people don't have the sufficient judgment to make the right choice all the time.
